Unspoken Word

Yes

You see me smiling

I laugh out loud

I am there

In the middle of the room

Chatting away

Engaging

Communicating

But

Where is the glow

Where is the sparkle

That used to light up those eyes

It was lost

With those words

Those words that

Are trapped

Deep inside

Tangled up tight

In thistles

And thorns

Afraid

Of how

Once exposed

The mask will slip

And

CRASH

So those words are not spoken

Unspoken word

If I take the time

Tear down the vines

That entangle

Those words

Until they tumble to the ground

Surrounding me

Til I am

Laid bare

All I would feel is

Cold

So they will stay

My

Unspoken word
