Eden

We went into Eden
A landscape so green
Rivers running freely
So much to be seen

An abundance of colours
Flowing so much love
Unbridled creativity
The blue sky above

Flowers blooming sway softly
In the gentle breeze
And the earth it keeps us grounded
So much beauty at our feet

Our children so amazing
Yet a story to be told
Trust that they will make the changes
That we’re longing to hold

As we step on the pathway
Of this journey of life
Walk with us throughout Eden
And know that all will be fine

You can dance with the unicorns
Fly to the moon
Chasing butterflies over rainbows
Or have a superhero make you swoon
Why not visit a little fairy
In a magical mushroom house
Make a wish or 2 to find true love
While watching the drifting clouds

Exist

I’m sorry
I thought you didn’t exist
When I first went to see you
You had disappeared
I thought it had all been a dream
My imagination playing tricks
So I continued with life
None of it had happened
And when
Fours year later
They began to write about you
I told them to take it off
It didn’t happen
You didn’t exist
And a year later
My response was the same
No
Don’t
It does not exist
And again 14 years later
The same thing
And now
18 years have passed
And you give me no choice
I see you clearly
I see you watching
Making sure we’re safe
You made sure I’d see the name
Yesterday
Today
And I understand
I know
I know that you exist
And you want me
To release
The guilt I feel
Next time
I will allow them
To write about you
Next time
I promise to
Acknowledge you
And as of now
I will think of you
I will love you
You
Exist

Homecoming

When you meet her eyes
Across the room
A slight glaze
And a knowing twinkle
That others see
But do not
Quite understand
Yet they’re intrigued
By the mystery
It is you that gets it
That gets her
You protest
Or rather
Remain silent
Voiceless
As if to deny
What you desire
And you know
When you catch her eyes
And see the light
The magic
That encapsulates you
That once you feel
Her warm lips
Wrapped around you
It will feel like
Homecoming

Their silence
It spoke volumes
Their lack of
Acknowledgement
As I walk
And think
Cuts deep
You’ve failed
It screams
In my ears
The fight
Was futile
Many years
I have tried
And now it feels
That the battle
Is over
The good
Gone to waste
The ever persistent path
Where I lead the way
Is disappearing
And it hurts
Like a heartbreak
That
They didn’t even say

Night Sky

The moon
Rests low
On the horizon
A precious shade of Amber
Against a copper tinged
Night sky
The stars scattered
Like diamonds
And a faint frost
Begins to settle
A truly
Beautiful night
That creates
A glowing sensation
Knowing
That you
See it too

Want

I
Want
You
Just once
To take me in
Your arms
Tilt my face
Take in
Every part of me
I
Want
You
To lower your lips
Onto mine
Just once
To see if it feels
Right
Nice
Enough
I
Want
You
More and more
As the days
Blend seamlessly
Into one
Just once
I
Want
To
Know
That
You
Want

Maybe
This is it
Although ever since
We were young
We’ve been led to
Believe
There is
A fairy tale ending
But
Maybe
There are no
Happy ever afters
Nobody for us
To fall in love with
Or love us
So deep
So raw
Consuming
Maybe
But
Inside my heart
It won’t
Allow me
To believe
That this
Maybe so
For what will there be
To live for
It I let those
Maybes
Take hold
Maybe

Have you ever chased the sunset
So deeply in love
That you forget
Everything
Because the only people who exist
In that moment of time
Are you
And him
Chasing the sunset
Recollections
Of the burdens
Brought by life
Fade into a past
That no longer exists
Your only intention
Right here
Right now
Is to chase
Until you reach
The sunset

Credit goes to my beautiful teenage niece for taking the fantastic photographs of the sunset today!

One little boy
Wanders like a lost soul
Unsure if he wants the world to look
Or just leave him alone

His dad will refuse
To accept something’s not right
And rather than be calm
He’ll just shout and fight

The more this keeps happening
The more the boy reacts
One day he may decide
To never come back

Mum has always known
That he’s not your average boy
And she’s trying to find
A way to bring him joy

But she feels like she’s failed him
Life is meant to be good
All she sees is a sad little boy
Who’s misunderstood

Dad doesn’t want to speak to him
Like he purposely done wrong
How will he get through this
How can he be strong

Unconditional love
Is what’s most in need
Patience and understanding
Will help him free

The worries and troubles
That toil through his brain
The little boy needs to end
The relentless strain

But mummy promises
She will always be there
Regardless of the drama
A commitment to care

My little boy
We’ll make it through
Please remember always
My everlasting love for you
